Overview:
A fantastic opportunity awaits a Junior Process Engineer to join the engineering team onsite at Girvan, contributing to impactful projects in renewable energy. Under the guidance of the Senior Process Engineer, this role supports the design, execution, and improvement of engineering projects, focusing on process optimization and compliance. The Role:
As a Junior Process Engineer, you will support project development, generate engineering deliverables, and assist in commissioning and process improvements. Responsibilities include producing essential process diagrams, equipment schedules, and mass/energy balances. You’ll work alongside the engineering team to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance in project execution, while also contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Operations team and Senior Process Engineer to scope projects, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
- Produce engineering deliverables such as Mass/Energy Balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Support major project commissioning by generating and maintaining up-to-date as-built documentation and equipment schedules.
- Manage a process improvement project from design through to handover, developing essential project documents and coordinating installation and commissioning.
- Actively promote a positive safety culture by attending safety meetings, engaging in site inspections, and contributing to safety studies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA).
- Ensure accurate data entry into the CMMS, contributing to data-led decision-making and effective project tracking.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Positive attitude toward continuous improvement, with a commitment to safety and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Solid foundation in chemical engineering principles, with familiarity in creating and analyzing process diagrams and operational data.
- IT proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with adaptability to ERP systems and experience with Microsoft Projects (or similar).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: Degree in Chemical Engineering or related subject; strong academic background in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering; experience with safety protocols and familiarity with project management tools.
- Valid UK driver’s license required, with the willingness to travel as needed.
