Overview:
A rewarding opportunity has emerged for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a dedicated maintenance team at renewable energy sites in Carrick (Girvan) and Tamside (Glasgow). This role is essential for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of key mechanical systems and equipment. Working closely with the Maintenance Team Leader and Supervisor, you’ll perform scheduled, reactive, and emergency maintenance tasks, leveraging data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
The Role:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining plant uptime and safeguarding assets through rigorous adherence to the maintenance schedule. Your responsibilities include performing root cause analysis on reactive maintenance, strictly following SOPs and Risk Assessments, and contributing to the team’s safety-first culture. With duties spanning both planned maintenance and emergency tasks, this position is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong problem-solving skills and a dedication to quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance to meet maintenance plan requirements, maximizing equipment uptime and asset protection.
- Respond quickly to reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring safe operations and timely completion.
- Accurately enter maintenance data into the CMMS (Agility, Maximo, SAP) to support data-driven decision-making.
- Follow SOPs and Risk Assessments rigorously to maintain safety standards and assist in documenting procedures as needed.
- Participate in root cause analysis to identify and prevent issues, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Promote a strong safety culture, supporting the company-wide “Don’t Walk By” and “Work Safe/Home Safe” initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the team, sharing best practices and working with a team-first mindset.
- Manage inventory through strict adherence to stores procedures, ensuring availability of required spare parts and consumables.
- Participate in site capital project integration as needed, supporting system enhancements and improvements.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong team ethic, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- Skilled communicator with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance role, with the ability to multitask and work independently.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, SOPs, Risk Assessments, and permit-to-work processes.
- Knowledge of industry standards, particularly in a similar environment under COMPEX/ATEX regulations, is preferred.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: HNC in Mechanical Engineering, completed Modern Apprenticeship, or equivalent N/SVQ level 3.
- Preferred: IOSH Managing Safely, Mechanical COMPEX (EX11) certification, FLT/Telehandler license.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role, ideally within a comparable sector.
