Are you passionate about the renewables sector and looking for a challenging role in planning and development? A leading biofuels company with a rich heritage in the agricultural industry is seeking a dedicated Planning & Development Associate to join their team.

The Company:

This innovative company invests long-term capital in biofuel plants and is deeply involved in:

  1. Remediation of agricultural manures
  2. Production of biofuel
  3. Production of biofertiliser

With extensive experience in building and managing biofuel plants across the UK, they are a leader in the industry.

The Role:

As a Planning & Development Associate, you will report directly to the head of the planning team and work closely with technical, commercial, and capital raising teams. You will play a critical role in supporting the development of biofuel plant projects, managing multiple consultants, and ensuring a seamless planning process with a high level of accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing multidisciplinary consultants
  • Preparing and reviewing planning documentation
  • Collaborating with the technical team to ensure consistent application of design parameters
  • Providing internal reporting on key updates
  • Conducting comprehensive research and analysis of comparable planning applications
  • Preparing presentations and investment memorandums to summarize findings and recommendations
  • Supporting project management and due diligence processes
  • Gathering information from internal teams and external counterparts
  • Staying updated with industry developments and competitor activities
  • Performing ad hoc analysis and appraisal of planning applications and environmental statements

The Candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in a planning, engineering, or technical role
  • Knowledge of and interest in the renewables sector (biogas desirable but not required)
  • Master’s degree desirable
  • Ability to collect and synthesize large amounts of information
  • Strong written English skills
  • Analytical rigor, reliability, accuracy, and strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
