Overview:
An exceptional leadership opportunity is available for a seasoned Site Leader to oversee the efficient and compliant operation at Portgordon in Banffshire, encompassing multiple key sites. This role offers full accountability for site performance, financial management, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. Reporting to the Head of Operations (Scotland), the Site Leader will drive a data-led culture, manage profit and loss, and lead a high-performing team dedicated to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The Role:
As the Site Leader, you’ll be responsible for defining and delivering P&Ls for the Portgordon Hub, setting and monitoring site KPIs, and ensuring corrective measures are in place to achieve or surpass budget and performance targets. The role demands a proactive approach to safety, compliance, and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, you’ll act as the main site contact for third parties and oversee site expansion and improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and manage site budgets, P&Ls, and deliver business cases for capital expenditure.
Analyze operational performance data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and reliability.
Drive compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and quality standards, ensuring adherence to COMAH, OFGEM, RHI, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
Lead and manage a high-performing team, ensuring training and development needs are met, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Oversee site projects, from concept to handover, ensuring project requirements align with site objectives and are executed efficiently.
Promote a strong safety culture, conducting audits, reviewing risk assessments, and implementing the “Don’t Walk By” and “Work Safe/Home Safe” programs.
Report site performance to the Head of Operations, providing actionable insights and plans to address deviations.
Act as the lead for site audits and manage relationships with external regulatory bodies such as SEPA and HSE.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within a production or manufacturing setting, ideally related to renewable energy.
Proven track record of managing P&L accounts and setting strategic objectives.
Strong SHEQ compliance expertise and a history of fostering a safe and compliant working environment.
Effective leader with the ability to manage teams of 10+ people, recognizing excellence and addressing performance issues.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations.
Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and a methodical, innovative mindset.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential: Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline or equivalent experience. Minimum of 20 years’ industry experience, including 5 years in a senior leadership role managing teams across multiple functions.
Preferred: Experience with anaerobic digestion, Malt distillation processes, site commissioning, NEBOSH or safety qualifications, Six Sigma training, and statistical data analysis skills.
Valid UK driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
